JOB DESCRIPTION OF AN ACCOUNT OFFICER

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Experience in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP) is preferred.

Location: Abuja 

Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable:
  • Process and record all invoices and payments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure timely collection of payments from clients and resolve any issues related to outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Maintain records of all transactions for accounts payable and receivable.
  • Bank Reconciliation:
  • Perform daily, weekly, or monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and company records.
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure reports are compliant with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts when required.
  • Transaction Recording:
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded in compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in financial documentation.
  • Tax Compliance:
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in audits as needed.
  • Payroll Support:
  • Assist with payroll processing, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Maintain employee records, including deductions, bonuses, and tax withholdings.
  • Audit Assistance:
  • Provide necessary documentation and financial records for internal and external audits.
  • Collaborate with auditors to ensure smooth and efficient audit processes.
  • General Administrative Support:
  • Provide support for other finance-related administrative tasks as needed.
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal teams to resolve any financial queries or issues.
